ALARUCCIAWhen talking to Alaruccia about her art, I’m fascinated by the natural style of her sweeping brush strokes and the symbolism that is fused within each composition of her large canvas works. A native New Yorker, Anna studied traditional art and anatomy under Harold Stevenson. Then with the guidance of renowned curator Leo Castelli in NYC, Anna was encouraged to go ahead and break the traditional rules of painting, combining several genres of art, including realism, surrealism, impressionism and expressionism. ALaruccia has spent many years in the fine art field producing a wide body of commissioned paintings and wall murals. During our conversation, Anna had this to say about her work: “I paint from the inside out. The brush connects my heart, soul and imagination to the canvas; and what reaches the viewer is the spiritual and visual expression I create which arouses ones’ curiosity and attention. People look at my work and it doesn’t look like every other thing they see in the art world. Every blank canvas has a voice of its own that’s waiting to be heard, and every painting tells a story.” |
